Thorpe Bay Entries

Post by Bob Carter »

You have until the post on Monday to get your entries in to me to get the discounted entry fee. Thus far Thorpe Bay Yacht Club members have got 16 entries - a great effort.
Will they beat our all time record of 23 entries from 1 Club?
It's possible

Roger Pimm mark 2 has transmogrified into Frank Sandells.

I have also been hard at work improving the pre-entry page so that it gives a full summary of each entrant. I'll put in a contents table later but if you hover the mouse over each icon it'll explain what it is but it should be fairly self explanatory.

Look at: http://www.sprint15.com/events/EMS/Nats ... .php?id=28

Hey Martin,
That is absolutely fantastic. :P

If there are any errors in your entry (either because you forgot something or we have entered it incorrectly) please EMail me and I'll sort it out. My Email address is on the contacts page.

Cheers
Bob

Hi Martin,

I agree with Gordon! Your motifs are very useful to organisers, eg to know who has expressed an interest in go-carting.

Earlier today, I was busy stuffing entry forms into the letter boxes of local Sprinters who have yet to enter. I hope we can therefore edge ever closer to the record club entry of 23.

I completely agree with the other guys, what great icons !

Hoping for more 2-up entries, Steve S are you bringing sprog?

Also expecting at least the Tunnacliffe duo from Halifax & trying to get more interested.

Hey we might even manage a Halifax team this year !

Great to see so many people on the list, at last !! Apart from no. 43 that is... for all those of us who will be following in his wake !

Hi Steve,

Haven't the foggiest, I don't use Mac's being a Windows person, guess the Mac's browser software doesn't know about ALT tags. In IE it works fine! I'll try with various other browsers tomorrow, I have 4 on my latest version of the University of Kent Student PC which I'm spending most of my time doing at the moment.

Hi Bob,

There is a reason for that and its a bit complicated to explain. Basically I'm trying to keep it simple and also to try and prevent weird happenings in the scoring system.

Each person you add to the database is actually a number in the entry list (which you never see or know what it is) but this Competitor ID is what my entire events system uses to refer too specific people, there is a table which just has competitor names and their club, so when you select Frank say from the list the system will actually get his number (33 in this case) and put that in the entry list along with all the other things you choose or enter. Thus if you've entered a TT or Nationals event in the last two years then you have a unique number in the system.

It does mean that it is possible to provide a competitor summary sheet with a list of their stats for both the TT's and Nationals since 2007. But this is something for after the nationals.

Martin - it's no problem - particularly as you corrected it so quickly. It's probably not worth the effort. I was just explaining the finger trouble* before some smart Alec pointed it out.
Cheers
Bob
* I hit some key and lost the entry screen, so I hit back and carried on, not realizing I had the same entry 2 times.
