Nationals courses

Post by Gabriel »

Hi,

I was wondering if the types of courses had been decided yet for the Nationals? I've only ever raced on the standard triangle type so if there are others planned it would be good to read up on them. Particularly to do with rules etc.

thanks,
Gabriel

Hi Gabriel,

Yep the courses have been decided but the Sailing Instructions will be available at the event which will give you the latest up-to-date infomation. I haven't actually seen a copy of it though.

The courses are usually, based on last years SI's I should add, they are selected on the days weather and what the RO fancies that day:

1) Parellogram where everyone sails round what is basically a lopsided rectangle.

2) A P course which may have two marks at the end of the run to allow you to select one to round avoiding the start\finish line. The interesting part is the end bit when you choose which mark to go for since its possible to have two or more converging lines of boats crossing one another to get too one of the marks.

These are the usual two courses used at the nationals.

The sailing instructions are ready and will be issued to each competitor at registration. There is a diagram of each of the courses.
