Never raced before

Post by jonsalter »

I have been sailing a Dart15 for a while but never raced before. I am thinking of entering the Nationals, any advice ? ie: should I or shouldn't I. :?

You'll be warmly welcomed to join in at the nationals, even if you just follow the fleet around you learn loads and will have fun.

I have someone at Thorpe Bay who's in the same position, ie never raced. He plans to come and support, but he will miss out terribly if he doesn't bring his boat.

I'd say "Come along and enjoy the fun"!

Just keep your eyes and ears open and all will be well - nothing to worry about if you avoid the "huddles". Lots of fun to have and plenty of people not much further on than you I expect. Looking forward to seeing you :D .

Really depends how confident you feel as it will be quite hectic around the start area. Assuming you feel confident with your boat handling then I'd say give it a go as it will be a great event & with this many boats it may not be repeated again for a while.

There's plenty of help on offer around the course and out on the water in general, so if you're not sure just ask the nearest boat and we'll see you there!

Clive Dilliway also came, never having raced before. He is one of our recruits at Thorpe Bay. He plans to attend Pentewan in '13.

I had a fantastic weekend and I'd like to thank everyone for such a warm welcome with plenty of encouragment and advice. Try and keep me away from Pentewan 2013. :D
