Marconi Traveller - 8th and 9th April

As one series concludes, another one begins!

First summer TT of 2017 is at Marconi Sailing Club on 8th and 9th April.
Five races including the long distance round the islands race. Briefing at 11am on Saturday with first race at 12noon.
Free camping available on Saturday night - with evening meal and catering available all weekend.

Unfortunately, camping not available on Friday night. If you want to drop your boat off Friday evening, please get in touch otherwise you won't be able to get in.

£40 for a twin room.

Thanks to all the team at Marconi for a great weekend.
My first ever visit - most impressed. My first ever podium finish - most happy. My first ever time finishing an event with extra weight on board (just shy of 4.5kgs) - most convinced it made not a scrap of difference to my result.

Well done Liam for a great result and George for his first podium. Also to Paul for a solid result. Thank you George for supporting the one design concept rather than a two tier class. I promise, the weight makes a difference to performance.

I should have clarified that it was my first podium in a Summer TT.
And to further clarify - I remain completely convinced that the carrying of additional weight in the order of a few kilos made no difference whatsoever to my result. Had I not chosen to carry some weight, my result would not have been any better. I say this after examining my position in each race at the finish line and the distance to both boats in front and behind me at that point.
I have subsequently discovered that my rudders were slightly out of alignment which I suspected during the event. Had they been properly aligned, that could have made a notable difference.
I remain totally convinced that the current weight issue wrt to new boats being too light and as a result, having an unfair advantage over all other boats is a complete red herring in terms of posting consistently good results. Forensic examination of results over the last few years will bear this out.
