Has anyone upgraded trampoline & kept old 'thin line' track? I have fairly new trampoline but track on port hull has cracked & track no longer available! See wanted section. With thanks Simon
The new track, (Dart 18 section) is much better. It might be possible for a sailmaker to change the bolt ropes on your current tramp so you can upgrade to the new tracks. Another option is to sell the current tramp on our "for sale" page to recover maybe half the price.
There is another option if you are really short of cash( or your boat is old and not worth the investment). The tramp tracks only ever split at the forward end. You can just replace the front 400mm of so and have a 2 piece track. You have to be very careful to line them up ensure that you file a smooth lead into both ends of the track at the join as well as the forward end where the tramp threads in from. I have done it in the past and it worked OK. So where do you get the bits of old section tramp track from? You use the aft end of some that have been taken off another boat. I bet Steve Sawford has some (unless he throws the old tracks away when fitting the new ones). I never threw the old bits away. I might even still have some....
