After leaking for some time I’ve finally got round to replacing the rear hatch mounts on 1615. Carefully removing the mount, and cleaning up the old sealant has revealed a rather damaged set of rivet holes. Is the best thing to fill in and repair the old holes, then start again and drill six new river holes.
As the rivet attachments lie near the edge of the opening, is the process of ‘riveting’ splitting the gelcoat? Would I be better using short stainless steel bolts (flush fitting).
Any thoughts appreciated.
Thanks
Kevin
