I'm new. Well, new here anyway; I'm a bit battered around the edges and look distinctly secondhand before an appropriate quantity of coffee first thing in the morning, but there you go. I've sailed dinghies all my life but now feel the need for something a bit less tippy than a Merlin and a bit more forgiving of an expanded waistline. This Sprint thingy seems to fit the bill...
I'm in Brighton, a member at Shoreham SC and looking to buy a Sprint. There are two for sale on this website and yesterday my hands were literally poised over the keyboard to tell Andrew Cavaciuti that I'd buy his and come to Shanklin to collect it when his email arrived to tell me he'd just sold it - I do hope that's not the high point of 2022! The other one is a Monaco and just down the road from me in Worthing but seems well overpriced according to the price guide on this website. I'm going to have a look at it anyway but don't really want to pay £1000 over the price guide figure.
So - if anybody has a boat for sale, I'm interested. I'm not going to spend a fortune on a first Sprint but if its accurate the price guide tells me that I should be able to find something in the high 1800 to low 1900 sail numbers but I'm more concerned with condition than how new the boat is, but as with all things the two probably go together. Is there anything out there looking for a new home?
I would echo Liam's comments about pricing - including taking into account if a road trailer etc is included in the sale. As mentioned in our FB exchange - it has been a sellers market for the past 18 months or so. Lots of interest in straightforward second hand boats arose following lockdown one and seems to have continued. If you scroll down the forum - you will see several posts where individuals or clubs have been looking for boats to buy over recent months.
So if you don't hear anything - don't be put off. Boats do come up - either on here or on other sites like eBay so its a question of keeping an eye out and moving fast if you see an advert come up. I don't know if there are any Sprint 15s at Shoreham - but if there are, its worth tapping up the owners to see if they might consider selling.
Thank you - thats a very kind offer and extremely useful to someone who doesn't yet know the specifics of the class. I had look at a boat today and would appreciate another pair of eyes doing so before parting with cash. Funnily enough, its not very far from you...
