Traveller issue.

Hi all,
I'm finding it really difficult to get the traveller rope to jam in its cleat. I bought a new cleat as the old one was worn, but I'm still struggling to get the rope to jam in... it's almost as if the whole assembly needs to be angled upwards more and I'm having to kneel down on the tramp to get it jammed in - it's almost impossible to do it while sitting forwards on the hull and there'd be no chance if I were hiking. There must be something obvious wrong because I can't believe other sailors would put up with this. Any suggestions please?

That's what toes are for.

Check the screw that attaches the triangle plate that the cleat is fitted, often they work loose over time as the plate wears.

taking care, you can bend up the U plate to suit you using an adjustable wrench or similar. If you bend the triangle plate the plate will be unable to swivel, so U plate is best. hope that helps. Brian P

I Think Andy's advice will have improved things, but if not I'll order a new U-plate and bend it at work.

Ok good , but if you need more angle, before you replace the U plate try just bending the original up a bit while it is still riveted to the main body.
