Nationals Venues for 2003 and 2004 [Bob]

We will be discussing where to hold the next 2 National Championship at the AGM in August. Below are my views but I'm happy to hear others views before we get too far in sounding out the Clubs:

Shanklin
My current view is we should consider Shanklin (if it is appropriate) for the Nationals in 2004, not 2003. The reasons for this are:
1) We will have the Sprint Nationals at Gurnard in 2003 and two Nationals on the IOW in one year is too much.
2) Next year is the Dart 15s 25th anniversary. We could consider doing a 25th anniversary special "return to our roots" like the 18s did last year. This would more naturally be to Pentewan, but Saundersfoot could be classed as an option. I still think Portland Harbour/Weymouth was good sailing and worth another visit, but not so good for the social / off water side.

Any other suggestions?

Cheers

Nationals Venues [Dartful Codger 3]

Pentewan is perfect for a 25th 'Anniversary' event and certainly gets my vote, and probably the rest of Beaver as well I suspect. It has an excellent, relatively sheltered sailing area, wide smooth beach with no chines, well managed and well laid courses, but probably the most important feature for such an event is the social side, since everyone can camp together on one site, and commute between beach, bed and bar without needing the car .
Pentewan may be a long way to travel (350 miles from Yorkshire), but as a family week's holiday, there's nothing to beat it in my books .
