The September FMF Magazine says the Nationals next year at Pentewan will be from 24-26 Aug. This is a Sun to a Tue. Is this right? I would have thought they'd be on a Sat to a Mon?

The magazine dates are right - I wrote them myself.
Pentewan Sands is 320 miles from Stevenage and even further from other places. It is too much to travel and get a practice lap and 2 races in on the Saturday. It is adjacent to a big Holiday Campsite which rents camping sites and also a large number of static caravans. Saturday is change over day but you don't get your caravan until about 3pm on Saturday. Hence Saturday will be travel and recover day. Racing will be Sunday, Bank Holiday Monday and Tuesday. Those that want to dash off may leave Tuesday evening, but most rent a caravan or tent pitch for the week and either join the fun events on Wed-Friday or alternatively have a family holiday in Cornwall for a few days.
