Welcome aboard! Regretably, I'm unable to advise on where to fit a compass. But what interests me, is that you race in the Thames Estuary, as I do.
Are you the guy who bought Rick Bakewell's boat from Leigh SC? And are you one of the throng that are starting a class of Sprints at the Island YC, Canvey? If so, a double welcome!
I race my Sprint 15 at Thorpe Bay YC, where I am also the class captain. I would be thrilled to meet you chaps some day. A party of us will be going to the Nationals at Netley in a fortnight, and to Grafham in october.
Earlier this year, five of us went to the Seasalter teach-in. A party of us will probably go next year as well. The class sponsored events definitely seem the best way to meet up. But it is good to be in contact for local events as well.
It is just screwed on ones which are out of class - in common with a lot of classes (including Dart 18). It is judged an unfair advantage if some boats have compasses fitted and others not.
