Cheap bits on EBay

Post by Bob Carter »

Some Dart bits on sale on EBay. 3 tiller arms, rudder stock, batten, etc.
They fit the Sprint 15 (just need to swap the pin on the tiller arms).
Here is the link:

Cheap bits on Ebay

Post by George Stephen »

I have seen the bits advertised on Ebay.

The long yellow batten is almost as new
The tiller arms looked ok - one might have been rewelded - and oldish as there is some wear in the plastic bits that slide within the arm.
I didn't pay much attention to the hound fitting
The holes in the rudder stock where the washers fit around the pivot bolt are quite worn - a new shouldered washer placed in the holes reveals 2mm play in some directions

There is also, in a different Ebay section, a Dart 18 tiller extension. Condition is better than my 15 year old (Dart 15) one.

The Ebay seller's deal is that buyer collects or pays for post and packing. The size of the "parcel" may well rule out Royal Mail/Parcel Force - and to what standard could the parts be packaged by someone with no evident access to suitable packaging material? If a Sprinter buys and can await delivery, I ( or possibly another Queen Mary Sprinter 'cos of my continuing ill health problems) may be able to collect and deliver to Carsington or Draycote etc if that would help.

That's very kind of you George. I did consider bidding since I have a spare rudder blade in good condition but I'm not so keen about the wear on the pintle holes.

Thanks for the information.

Bits on Ebay

Robert,

It's not wear in the gudeons (the pintles are the pointy bits!) that I was drawing attention to, it's wear in the quite big holes through which the rudder pivot bolt goes through the washers and shouldered washers, enabling the rudder blade to be raised or lowered.

I didn't check for wear in the gudgeons, so there might or might not have been some wear there as well.

Ah yes - I see now on re-reading your post. Mmm. I think I'll probably desist as I easily get carried away collecting "stuff".

Thanks again.
