Stewartby Sprint 15 Winter TT - 2nd November

Post by KarlPountney »

Hello all. It's that time of year again where I yet again cut 'n' paste the announcement I posted last year into a fresh one so I can announce that the first of the Winter TT Series events is taking place next weekend at Stewartby.

The format is as before. Two races, first race at 11.15 am. Briefing at 10.30 on the clubhouse patio. Open to all formats. RYA PY number will be used.

The club will be open from 08.30 so plenty of time to set up (put your boat together!), chow-down on bacon butties and sup a few mugs of tea.

The entry fee is the same at £15 and everyone goes away with boozy prize*. A bacon butty and a cup of tea is included as well.

A typical hot meal, which is not included in the entry fee, and drink in at around £5 - £6. With luck, we'll be able to post the Galley menu before the weekend itself.

Like last year we intend running both races back-to-back rather than either side of lunch. It works well and was popular amongst visitors and members alike.

We've yet more home boats than last year and we want to see as many of you as possible. You can leave your boats at the club tomorrow.

We had a few whopping turn-outs in recent years which will be hard to beat, so we'll look forward to seeing as many of you that can make it next weekend.

If you have any questions please contact myself by emailing sprint15@swsc.org.uk.

Karl.

Quick update I've spoke to the Galley and the meal choices for next week are: Curry or Shepherd's Pie.

Hello everyone. I hope you're all looking forward to tomorrow's event. Just a couple of matters to bring to your attention:

1. ROADWORKS - There are roadworks in Green Lane and a diversion in place to get to the club. This will affect anyone coming from the A421 or M1. The diversion takes you down Broadmead Road into Stewartby Village and across the railway with the club first on the left. It really isn't difficult to follow the diversion but I do recommend you have a quick look on google maps before you set out as reversing a cat trailer can be a royal pain.

2. POST STORM - like lots of clubs we had to batten down the hatches last weekend before the storm so we will have a bit of work to do before we're ready for racing. This may result in choices being made which may affect the size and shape of the racing area, buoys used and whether we use the committee boat. We will be making choices that get us away for the first race on-time!!!

All will be explained at the briefing - which you really can't afford to miss. It will take place at 10.15 sharp on the clubhouse patio or in the clubhouse. This changes anything we've previously announced here on the club website.

Many thanks to all at Stewartby who worked so hard to give us a great day out in the Autumn sunshine and the freshening breeze which thankfully didn't get to gale force until we were all enjoying a most welcome dinner. Well played, folks - great kick off to the winter season as usual :D
