Can people advertise their boats at reasonable prices. We like to make regular sorties to Gurnard with £2.50 and some magic beads to swap for boats. You are not helping us.

I see what you mean! A proven boat like 1441 that Paul just used To win the Sport Nationls (using sail number 458) must be worth a fortune. Feel free to send offers in excess of £5k to me or Simon Giles (joint owners) for consideration.

Peter Richardson actually named one of his Sprint 15s "Fifty Five Quid" after the amount he paid for it.
It was a few years ago but I have not heard of anyone doing better. Even those who think they come from the Sunny side.

Yes if the mast breaks it costs over £1000 to replace so old boats are hardly worth the investment unless a second hand mast is found. Selling off the bits represents an opportunity but it takes a determined effort and you are unlikely to get left with a lot. Old rudders are not as good as new ones as there are a number of areas where wear can detract from the performance (e.g. The top casting can spread so the lock up/down is not effective, the A frame pivot hole wears, the rudder blades get chewed and split, etc ). We are lucky we can get all the spare parts so most people just repair the ones they have got. Few lose the whole rudder and need new assemblies. A few years ago I bought a spare pair of Dart 18 rudder assemblies on Ebay for about £300. Winsport or Sawford marine are best able to make best use of the boat if the owner wants rid.

There a number of really good priced boats for sale at the moment. For those that are a bit short of cash there are a number that look good buys at £1400 or less. This is the best selection of cheap boats I can remember for a long time.

1970 has been sold and I have a another boat. All my racing at Oxford is Handicap, and because of the light winds this year the last time 1970 was raced was at Rutland, (if the wind could stay like that Id have kept the Cat) I found the 15 great fun in a blow but just couldnt make go in the light stuff.
I now own a boat the works in the lighter winds, and means I can club race at the weekend and with a bit of effort the heavy wind, and that carries a bit of weight, a Blaze

Sorry your leaving the fleet but I can understand your problem at Oxford. I sail in a mixed fleet at Llandudno and unless it's blowing the cat is useless. I own a 1979 vintage Laser which I use in the light stuff, if I didn't have the second boat the cat would have been sold long ago (but it's great fun when it's windy).
You'll have fun in the Blaze, my good friend Martin owns one, he is a 6ft 4in 18 stoner and manages to remain competitive in most wind strengths.
