Hi

At the weekend the little black slug broke off my sail, Questions, should I just ignore it as my older sail did not have a slug,
should I tie the tack to the mast as I did in Phantom,

and my older sail needs some attention in the bolt rope area (worn thin at the batten end where the plastic pockets rub on the mast) Who would you recomend to carry out the repair? Im Oxford based.

Any advice will be appreciated.

Hi Simon, I think you need to get a replacement, as this slug takes all the tack load. Short term you can tie the tack around the mast .
If you can take a picture of the tack area I will see what we can do to help.

are you talking about the slug attached to the foot of the sail through the eyelet (downhaul)?

i attached one to mine with a jubilee clip. i can send a photo if this is the area you are talking about. Suggitt sails in Reddich helped me.

Suggit Sails fitted a slug for me too, whilst I waited. I think his minimum charge is £40 but he can do a few bits for that.
