Herne Bay is home of 2 time National Champion Roger Hodgkison. Roger has been in the top 3 places at the Nationals 7 times in 10 years and won both Kent regattas in 1998. Commodore, Mark Sanders, is a keen Dart15 sailor who does the open circuit but he has, unfortunately, lost his travelling buddy, Martin Barson, who recently sold his Dart 15 and emigrated to America. Herne Bay is a friendly and capable club with some 14 Dart 15s and hosted the first 3 Day National Championship in 1999.
