I have uploaded some photos of the Model Sprint 15 project that Nick Dewhirst and Kevin Dutch have been working on. Background: Nick acquired an old Robbe Newcat model and got some new sails made which look the part, Kevin refurbished all the working bits and pieces and installed some new RC parts. 9 travellers & 15 home boats met for the Seasalter TT in brilliant sunshine. A delayed Saturday start allowed the NE sea breeze to overcome the prevailing SW winds providing steady F4 winds until the last lap of the second race of the day. The Sprint 15 Southern Championships were held at Thorpe Bay Yacht Club on the weekend of 26-27 June. The weather throughout the weekend was spectacular, with plenty of sunshine and enough wind to suit most tastes. The first day was the breezier of the two. It has been brought to my attention that someone tried to scam a potential buyer of a second hand trampoline. Thus if you are buying or selling items you should be on your guard. There have been people in the past who want people to sell their boat to them in return for a bankers draught with a promise that someone will appear to collect the boat, this is a scam too. The weekend dawned with a windy day to get rigged up, with only 1 local, Ben Skull, the travellers were dominant. With 3 sailors Seasalter SC was best represented by Martin Searle, Kevin Dutch and David Turnbull, 2 from Queen Mary in the form of Gordon Goldstone and George Stephen, followed by Erling Holmberg from Shanklin and Ian Collyer from Holywell. The Class Association were kindly given a new mainsail by Windsport as sponsorship for the Class to use in any way we would like to promote the Class. We decided to use it to promote all our events (including summer events, winter events and both national championships) so at each event for a whole year each entrant has been been 'given'* a raffle ticket. more..
